Sundaram Gunasekaran, Director
Sundaram Gunasekaran is the Director of CALS Global in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Guna is also a professor in the Department of Biological Systems Engineering. He received his undergraduate degree in agricultural engineering from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in India; master’s degree in food process engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand; and PhD from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research interests are in enhancing food quality and safety. He has widely published in this area with over 200 peer-reviewed publications and over 10 patented or patent-pending inventions. He has received various honors and awards, including Fulbright Fellowship and U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award.
Jennifer Kushner, Assistant Director
Jennifer Kushner is the Assistant Director for CALS Global, in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For the past 25 years, Jennifer has led and evaluated US-based and global initiatives in agriculture, health, environment, community and human development. Her work focuses on systems approaches to addressing complex issues using organizational strategy, partnership development, and collective impact. Kushner holds an EdD in adult education from National-Louis University in Chicago, a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in agricultural sciences from UW-Madison. She is recognized for contributions in the areas of systems evaluation and interdisciplinarity. She has worked in the private sector, started and led several non-profits, served as an elected official, runs her own consulting business, and is an avid outdoor enthusiast.
Anna Snider, Program Manager
Anna Snider is a specialist in international agriculture development with experience in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. She has a dual PhD in sustainable management and rural development from Montpellier, SupAgro, France and the Technical University of Madrid in Spain. Her research is multi-disciplinary and central to sustainable development, gender equity and smallholder resilience. She works to bring together researchers from across campus and abroad for international engagement in research, learning and outreach. Anna is also an avid volunteer with the USAID-funded Farmer-to-Farmer program.
