Sundaram Gunasekaran, Director
Sundaram Gunasekaran is the Director of International Programs in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Guna is also a professor in the Department of Biological Systems Engineering. He received his undergraduate degree in agricultural engineering from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in India; master’s degree in food process engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand; and PhD from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research interests are in enhancing food quality and safety. He has widely published in this area with over 200 peer-reviewed publications and over 10 patented or patent-pending inventions. He has received various honors and awards, including Fulbright Fellowship and U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award.
John Ferrick, Associate Director
John Ferrick brings strong commitment and credentials to teaching and learning across the fields of agriculture and the health sciences. John has been instrumental in gaining support for the promotion and inclusion of international content in courses on the UW campus and corresponding international experiences that provide UW undergraduates and graduate students with experiences that connect what they learn in the classroom with real world issues. During his over 20 years of work in the CALS IP office, he has worked with faculty, staff and students on projects designed to engage their expertise in helping to address some of the worlds grand challenges such as access to clean water and food that is both plentiful and healthy.
